Our Programming & Quick History
South 78 Radio brings you Local High School sporting events from the 6 Rivers, SWC & SWAL Conferences in Southwest Wisconsin. Our Broadcasts include Volleyball and Football in the Fall, Girls & Boys Basketball during the Winter months, Softball & Baseball in the Spring, All-Star Games & Special Events in the Summer including 2 Little League baseball games featuring 8 year old Little Cubs from the Freeport, IL area vs Little Cardinals from the Black Earth, WI area at Rookies in Black Earth, WI and Little Cubs Field in Freeport, IL!
South 78 Radio has teamed up with Dodge-Point Broadcasting Company in Dodgeville, Wisconsin as I was offered the job of Sports Director for WDMP-FM, known as Outlaw Country D99.3, where every Monday afternoon September thru May, you can hear a 10-15 minute Sports & School Scoop where I recap the week in sports for the 6 Rivers Conference, SWC, SWAL and other area teams at 5pm!
This opportunity of teaming up with Dodge-Point Broadcasting and being their "Sports Arm" will help South 78 Radio expand our coverage of local High School Sports to more communities that have been under-served over the years, including the Dodgeville Dodgers, the team I first broadcasted back in March of 2004! That was now over 20 seasons ago. Time sure does fly when you're having a good time!
I was joined by Hall of Fame Football Coach Dennis Murphy in the broadcast booth for 15 seasons as we started broadcasting games together in the Fall of 2007 for Big Radio in Monroe, WI & Freeport, IL covering Southern Wisconsin & Northwest Illinois. It has been one of the greatest honors in my career and life to learn the game from one of the best to ever do it.
For 10 seasons, our Football Broadcast booth on South78Radio has enjoyed a true team who brings heart and passion to our broadcasts. 1st off I'd like to say thank you to Coach Murphy's son, Ryan Murphy, who brought the sounds and point of view from field level! Ryan has been our sideline reporter & defensive stats taker since 2014 and brought another coach's perspective to our broadcasts.
Last, but not least, we are joined by my wife, Arayna Satterlee, for all of the stats for Football & our Volleyball broadcasts. Being a CPA and owning her own tax and accounting business (Dodgeville Tax & Accounting), Rayna gives our broadcasts that extra boost by telling the story of the game thru numbers! My broadcasts can only tell so much of the story of what is taking place, either on the field or on the court. Rayna's ability to breakdown the numbers of the game enhances our broadcasts to a level only rivaled by major sports media companies!
With the 2024-2025 Sports Seasons underway, that also means I am going into my 11th season of being the Public Address Announcer for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers! You can watch all UW-Platteville games on the Pioneers Sports Website, letsgopioneers.com, or download the Pioneers GameDay app on your mobile device! I may even get a chance to broadcast a couple of UWP Baseball games during the Spring if the broadcast Voice of the Pioneers Jimmie Kaska is broadcasting Softball...so stay tuned!
The Spring of 2024 marked the 4th consecutive season that South78Radio featured 6 Rivers-East Conference Baseball as the home for Barneveld Golden Eagles Baseball! Barneveld native Randy Hendrickson joined me for a couple of games, marking his 20th season of broadcasting with me over 4 different radio companies! Randy brings his unique knowledge of the Barneveld Community & unmatched wit to the broadcasts that just adds an element only found on South78Radio.com!

After being forced to cancel my football season & take off basketball season to heal up and get back healthy after being diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure, I am looking forward to being back in the booth, returning to my passion of broadcasting High School Sports!
